Writing Contest Winner Spring 2011

Congratulations First Place Winner, Susan McMillan, of Powell River, and member of Sassyscribes, a local writer’s group.

The Girls

“I am feeling so horny I can hardly stand it!  What am I to do?” I wonder.   I am coming from the Vancouver Park Board Offices and travel quickly so that I can get some exercise during my lunch hour.   I am wearing a soft cotton blue dress, which I made out of a bed sheet, only because I love the texture and color and I feel…well…sexy each time I wear it.  I slow down to look at the incredible vista.  The weather is perfect although there was a rainbow only minutes before.  My senses are heightened as the gentle wind blows my dress around my legs.   I stop to marvel in this great moment.

“Hey Sue!”  John, my coworker, jolts me from my revere.  John is such a gorgeous hunk of a man and such a flirt.  Wanting to stay in this peaceful state, I turn toward him and indicate that I am out for a walk.

“Your headlights are up!” I hear him say as I turn away to start my workout.   “My who?  Are what?”  Then the realization of what he has said slowly seeps into my consciousness!  I am desperately trying to be cool as I run down the steps that lead to the beach.

I am laughing so hard at his comment I snort.  I stand for a few moments while I try to stifle my uncontrollable noises.   I turn around and head up the steps again heading towards Granville Street where my favorite lingerie store is located.

I rush out of the shop with my little silicone hearts pressed on each breast.  “The girls are happy and I am too.  Thanks John for your inspiration.   These little accessories are just terrific, “I muse as I head back to the business of business.

Wow! just the kind of challenge to enliven one’s coffee break!
Like the 10 words — annually contest from CV!!- Winnipeg — eventually one has to write some lines down –just to get them out of the head and blocking the project one should be finishing!

Hope to see you, as I am interested in visiting Powell River and taking part in the PRWC.
Are you listed with Pandora’s Collective, World Poets, Ascent Aspirations and Canadian Authors Association (nationally)’s lists?

“Write on Bowen” is July 8-10… see http://www.biac.ca

Cheers for promoting Canadian Writers and writing! Bernice
